About This Project
Reel Reviews is a full-stack movie review application where users can write reviews, assign ratings from one to five stars, browse recently submitted entries, and search reviews by movie title. It uses a Next.js frontend, an Express REST API, and Supabase for persistent review storage.
TIMELINE
Planning and Project Setup
Defined the movie-journal concept, established the Next.js and Express applications, and planned the frontend-to-backend data flow.
Review Interface
Created the responsive homepage, navigation, review cards, review collections, and reusable application components.
Review API and Storage
Built the Express REST API, connected it to Supabase, and implemented persistent review creation and retrieval.
Search and Validation
Added partial-title searching, rating validation, required-field checks, loading states, success feedback, and error handling.
Testing and Deployment
Tested the complete review workflow, configured production environment variables, created the optimized build, and deployed the frontend through AWS Amplify.
